Organisations that can help give advice on pensions:

The Pensions Advisory Service, is an independent non-profit organisation that provides free information, advice and guidance on the whole spectrum of pensions covering State, company, personal and stakeholder schemes.

They operate a telephone helpline on 0845 601 2923. Calls are charged at the local call rate.

Pension Plus. We can offer help with:
  • Pension Credit. This is money to top up your pension if it is below a certain level.
  • Income Support. You can claim this if you work under 16 hours and your income is below a certain level.
  • Disability Living Allowance. This tax free, non-means tested allowance is available to people under 65 who need help with care, mobility or both.
  • Attendance Allowance. This is a tax free, non-means tested allowance for people over 65 who need help with care because of an illness or disability.
  • Carers Allowance. This is a taxable weekly benefit.You may be entitled to claim this if you are looking after someone who gets Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance.
  • Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. Depending on circumstance, you may be able to get help with all or part of your rent and Council Tax.

As well as giving information and advice, we can give practical help:

  • Filling out Forms
  • Contacting the Benefit Agency
  • Representation in Courts and Tribunals
  • Writing Letters

We are accessible to the disabled and we may be able to arrange to visit you in your home if needed.
